General Responsibilities:

1. Consults with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and members of the pupil personnel services team related to learning strategies, social-emotional supports, and behavior strategies, in order for students to find success in their educational experience.
2. Collaborates with teachers, related service providers and support staff in the collection of student data
3. Assists teachers and building-level teams in the development of appropriate academic and behavior interventions to meet student needs within a multi-tiered system of supports.
4. Determines appropriate evaluative tools based on each students’ referral questions, and completes all required components of thorough psycho-educational evaluations for initial and triennial re-evaluations
5. Collaborates with the evaluation team in making recommendations for students classified through the Committee on Special Education.
6. Completes necessary documentation required in students’ Individualized Education Programs and evaluation reports as part of the special education process.
7. Clearly and effectively communicates results of evaluations and recommendations to parents, necessary staff, and students, when appropriate, including the presentation of evaluative information as a member of the Committee on Special Education.
8. Maintains appropriate records and reports of contacts with students, parents, school conferences, agency contacts, etc.
9. Supervises the use and confidentiality of student records for the protection of the individuals involved.
10. Collaborates with the pupil personnel services team in meeting the goals of the district’s Counseling Plan, including the oversight of universal screening data for students’ social-emotional needs.
11. Provides counseling for individuals and small groups as the need arises, including the provision of mandated counseling to students with disabilities.
12. Initiates and plans in-service programs for staff and community members
13. Serves as a resource person in various areas of the curriculum
14. Attends meetings as required (i.e. faculty meetings, Committee on Special Education, etc.).
15. Serves on established committees either on a voluntary basis or by assignment.
16. Submits annual budget requests to the Director of Special Education.
17. Conducts and records an annual inventory of equipment and supplies
18. Submits an annual report on activities to the Director of Special Education
19. Strives to keep informed of the current educational trends and practices in this area.
20. Accepts and performs duties and responsibilities not ordinarily associated with the position, in cases of emergency or when unusual or unpredictable circumstances arise.

Classroom Organization and Management

1.         Establishes a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and to the development of a positive self-concept.

2.         Develops appropriate rules for student behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and consistent manner.

3.         Organizes the classroom facilities and instructional materials to promote optimal use.

Evaluation, Record Keeping, and Reporting

1.         Assesses the progress of students on a continuing basis, provides progress reports, and holds appropriate conferences.  Communicates with parents and other staff members to bring about pupil growth.

2.         Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.

Miscellaneous

1.         Assists in implementing school-wide policies and rules governing student conduct.

2.         Attends meetings as required (i.e. faculty meetings, parent conferences, etc.).

3.         Serves on established committees either on a voluntary basis or by assignment.

4.         Supervises student teachers and non-instructional personnel by mutual consent with the building principal.

5.         Submits annual budget requests to the building principal.

6.         Conducts and records an annual inventory of equipment and supplies.

7.         Strives to keep informed of the current educational trends in this area.

8.         Accepts and performs duties and responsibilities not ordinarily associated with the position in cases of emergency or when unusual or unpredictable circumstances arise.

Automotive Mechanics are characterized by their ability to analyze and diagnose the cause of breakdowns and faulty mechanical performance and then perform major mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs on the following, but not limited to: engines (gas and diesel), clutches, torque converters, drive lines, chassis, brakes, steering and accessories. The vehicles and equipment can include, but are not limited to: ten wheel dump trucks, pickups, automobiles, school buses, graders, loaders, dozers, pavers, excavators, rollers, tractors, cranes and other equipment. This work may be performed in the field as well as the garage.

Has responsible charge of the continuing operation of the school district buses and operates a bus on an assigned route. These duties involve the responsibility of seeing that all school district buses are staffed with drivers and for driving a school bus over a regularly established route. Responsibilities do not include supervision or direction of the repair and maintenance of school buses. The work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures. Supervision is exercised over bus drivers by observation and reports. Does related work as required.

This is a professional nursing position involving responsibility of giving care and treatment to students and for performing related nursing services such as pupil health appraisal and follow-through and communicable disease control requiring specialized judgement and skills. This position differs from the certified position of School Nurse-teacher in that there is no responsibility for either classroom instruction of guidance involved. The work is performed under the general direction of a school Physician or School nurse-Teacher.

This is manual work of average difficulty, requiring skill in the operation of a large automotive vehicle. Employee drives a school bus on an assigned route and may perform minor maintenance tasks in connection with such operation. The operator is responsible for the safety and conduct of the children who are passengers. The work is performed under general supervision with considerable leeway allowing the operator in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.

Good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations. A substitute bus driver is willing to go through the bus training program and meet all operational, safety, and medical requirements.

This is manual work of average difficulty, requiring skill in the operation of a large automotive vehicle. An employee drives a school bus per-diem, on an assigned route. The operator is responsible for the safety and conduct of the children who are passengers.

Food Service: This is routine work involving assistance in the preparation and service of food, and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment. Does related work as required.

1. This position involves manual work, calling for the efficient and economic performance of building cleaning. Cleaning is done according to a well-established routine. Does related work as required.
2. Options for other paid work include but not limited to chaperoning school events, event cleanups and summer work.
3. Ability to join the New York State Local Retirement System.
