This is a Civil Service, Competitive Class, position.
A supervisor of Transportation is responsible for the efficient management of the transportation of the facilities of a school district. The incumbent has general supervision over the transportation system. The incumbent supervises the operation and repair of the automotive equipment. In certain circumstances, the incumbent may occasionally be required to drive a school bus.
General knowledge of standard modern transportation methods and of the operation of uses; good knowledge of automotive repair methods and the terminology and tools of the trade; ability to plan work for self and others; knowledge of general repairs required for school transportation equipment; ability to learn to prepare necessary reports; dependability; ability to get along well with others; good physical condition
Minimum Qualifications: Either
A) Five years of experience in the repair of automotive equipment; or
B) Five years of experience in the operation of multi-passenger vehicles; or
C) Any satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Qualifications Necessary for acceptance of application
Eligibility for the appropriate level New York State Driver's License at the time of application. Possession of license at the time of appointment and maintained throughout employment.
