Program Planning, Preparation and Implementation

1.         Provides appropriate instruction within the prescribed curriculum.

2.         Establishes short and long range program goals which are consistent with the general philosophy of the school system as embodied in curriculum guides, adopted textbooks, handbooks and “Directions for the Future.”

3.         Employs instructional methods, materials and resources, which are conducive to meeting stated objectives.  Deviation from this practice is acceptable by mutual agreement of the teacher and administration for the purpose of meeting individual student needs.

4.         Serves as a resource person in various areas of the curriculum.

Classroom Organization and Management

1.         Establishes a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and to the development of a positive self-concept.

2.         Develops appropriate rules for student behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and consistent manner.

3.         Organizes the classroom facilities and instructional materials to promote optimal use.

Evaluation, record-keeping, and Reporting

1.         Assesses the progress of students on a continuing basis, provides progress reports, and holds appropriate conferences.  Communicates with parents and other staff members to bring about pupil growth.

2.         Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.

Miscellaneous

1.         Assists in implementing school-wide policies and rules governing student conduct.

2.         Attends meetings as required (i.e. faculty meetings, parent conferences, etc.).

3.         Serves on established committees either on a voluntary basis or by assignment.

4.         Supervises student teachers and non-instructional personnel by mutual consent with the building principal.

5.         Strives to keep informed of the current educational trends in this area.

6.         Accepts and performs duties and responsibilities not ordinarily associated with the position in cases of emergency or when unusual or unpredictable circumstances arise.

This is manual work of average difficulty, requiring skill in the operation of a large automotive vehicle. Employee drives a school bus on an assigned route and may perform minor maintenance tasks in connection with such operation. The operator is responsible for the safety and conduct of the children who are passengers. The work is performed under general supervision with considerable leeway allowing the operator in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
